“Kuan is the absolute best!”

Kuan is the absolute best! Developed elbow problems from playing golf as it became a severe pain that did not allow normal mobility and caused sleeping issues. Kuan immediately identified the issue and explained to me the acupuncture process so I would understand what I was feeling in my elbow/arm. He set realistic expectations and within 5 treatments the daily and nighttime pain is gone. The pain is gone, back to golfing, and able to sleep throughout the night without pain!

I will absolutely see Kuan again for treatment/maintenance due to his knowledge and friendliness (always made me feel comfortable). I highly recommend Kuan!

Back Pain: I am a 31 year-old former D1 college athlete who has been dealing with low back pain off and on for the past 3 years. After 7 visits my back pain subsided substantially and Kwon was the catalyst. After two appointments my pain went down significantly and had become almost non-existent being a 0-1 after my 7th treatment.

Friendly: Kwon is always smiling and down to help. He has a great bedside manner and is very responsive and flexible with appointments.

Helpful: Kwon is helpful in terms of his explanations of what he is doing and why he is performing certain techniques. If you have other body ailments which hurt over the course of treatment, he is willing to provide acupuncture there as well.

Low Pressure: overall, Kwon is one of the few by appointment private providers of acupuncture who do not give you the "whole 9" in terms of laying out a 10 session treatment plan. He is a guy who just once to help. And if it takes 2, 10, or 20 sessions. He's level of care is the same.

“A breath of fresh air”

Kuan Ren Su at Acu Design Health has become a breath of fresh air for me.

I was in dire need of ortho treatment and I'm a walking STRESS case. I was so stressed that I felt like my heart was beating out of my chest.

Kuan gave me cupping (which is for detoxification) and some acupuncture. It took about 5 treatments, but my lower back pain is SOOOO much better now.

I also appreciate his directness. He gets straight to the point (pun intended). As you get to know him, you will love his dry sense of humor.....so dry that you need some lubriderm.....see what I did there?

Anyway, if you're looking for an honest, straight to your face, talented ortho acupuncturist, Kuan is the best.

Oh, and his clinic is calm and relaxing.

“Highly recommend”

Kuan has consistently been helpful with his acupuncture treatments for all sports injuries that I've endured including a shoulder strain, tight lower back and most recently a stress fracture/swollen foot.

I highly recommend giving him a visit for any muscle related injuries if you're as active as I am.

“Kuan is incredibly knowledgeable”

Kuan is an incredibly knowledgable and skilled acupuncturist with a hilarious and a very dry sense of humor. If LinkedIn allowed it, I'm sure he'd add "stabbing people" to his list of skills.

I was initially a bit apprehensive about the fact that he uses the larger Chinese needles (I was previously only familiar with the smaller Japanese needles), but as it turns out I like these Chinese needles a lot more and it really felt like deep trigger point therapy. Sorry Japan, you lose this round, but I will make it up to you when I sing your praises at Katsu.

As a bodybuilder, I am keenly aware of issues I'm experiencing in a number of muscles and Kuan doesn't even blink an eye when I say my infraspinatus is locked up. He has a vast knowledge of anatomy and by intuition seems to magically find the needed points to provide therapeutic relief. He may or may not also have some potential in the Chicago standup circuit.

For my last 6 months in Chicago, I alternated between massage and acupuncture and found them both very complementary and effective, and works out of a very clean and professional office right in downtown Evanston. He also takes health insurance!
